Yoga creates space for new possibilities
When you are relaxed – maybe on holiday or in nature - your mind might feel still and peaceful - this allows you to relax and become more aware and fully enjoy what is happening in the moment.
We can say that at this time there is less stuff in your head - and that your mind is more spacious, which gives you a sense of increased clarity and inner peace.
Mind & body connection
Yoga recognises that the mind affects the body and that the condition of the body affect the mind. In yoga - we would even say that there is no real distinction between the two.
Science also recognises this – and we know that we have more neurons in the gut than we have in the brain – which illustrates that there actually is a form of intelligence in the body.
Embodying the past
Past experiences may be locked in your body in the form of stored tension.
When your mind and body is crowded with experiences from the past and expectations for the future it is as if your inner space is full up, clogged or even jammed.
Creating space for the new
When doing yoga we open and energise the body by stretching, extending and releasing tension.
We can say that we create space in the body. Increasing body movement, and making the body more flexible is undoing stored knots and contractions.
The conscious bodywork of yoga therefore harmonises body and mind by creating space and openness in your physical body – which then also flows into your mind.
Increased spaciousness in mind and body frees up patterns of the past and your inner world gets filled with a sense of joy and freedom.
